Checklist vs Citations: does the on-site score actually predict anything

What it is

Two numbers side by side. The first is a readiness score built from the same signal families every AI-visibility checker grades: technical, content, entities, brand, authority. The second is your measured citation rate, from asking the engines and reading what came back. The product is the gap between them.

When to use it

When you have done the on-site work a checker told you to do and want to know whether it made any difference, or when a scanner has given you a long list of fixes and you want to know if that list is aimed at your actual problem.

  3. 3Read the sentence underneath, which names which of the four cases you are in.
  4. 4If the two disagree, that is the finding. Act on the gap rather than on either number alone.

What you will see

A readiness score out of 100, a citation rate with the number of sampled engine answers behind it, and a plain sentence naming the case. Below 10 sampled answers we refuse the comparison rather than showing a rate that will not hold.

Measured, never manufactured

The whole category asserts that fixing on-site signals earns citations, and none of them can check, because none of them query the engines. We can, so we show both numbers instead of asserting the link. The cross-site correlation is deliberately withheld until at least 30 sites carry both measurements: publishing one from a handful would be exactly the unbenchmarked claim this page exists to argue against. The readiness score also excludes the citation result on purpose, because including the outcome inside the proxy would correlate the number with itself.
