SEOAIO vs CiteMetrix
Both measure how AI engines talk about a brand, and both run a free check. They cover more platforms and publish their composite's weights; we print the sample count behind every share and keep the domain you type out of our analytics.
Their side reflects public pages we reviewed on October 11, 2026. Products change; if something here is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.
Where CiteMetrix is genuinely strong
- Eight AI platforms plus Google AI Overview on every plan, listed by name on their pricing page.
- Bring your own key on every plan: you pay the engine providers directly, and their pricing says they never see your queries.
- Their composite publishes its weights out of 100 (Mention Score 45, Brand Demand 20, Authority Transfer 20, Technical Readiness 15), which most rivals never do.
- A technical methodology page that says missing components are reported as unavailable rather than estimated.
- The free check shows the AI answers first, with the question asked printed above each one, and highlights competitor names inside the answer text.
A comparison that finds nothing good in the other tool is marketing. If the rows above are what you need most, they may genuinely fit you better.
| What matters | SEOAIO | CiteMetrix |
|---|---|---|
| Engines covered | 4 engines measured today: Perplexity, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Claude. Copilot is not measured, by choice, and an engine we do not sample reads NOT MEASURED, never zero. | Eight platforms (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Copilot, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Mistral) plus Google AI Overview, per their pricing page. They cover more engines than we do. |
| Who pays the engine bill | Engine costs are included in the plan price ($99 / $249 / $549 a month). There is no bring-your-own-key option today. | Bring your own key on every plan: you pay each AI provider directly, and the plan price covers the software. Business plans from $79 a month, agency plans from $299. |
| Samples behind each number | Each question is sampled repeatedly per run, and every share carries its sample count and a 95% Wilson interval. | The free check gives two 0 to 100 scores from two questions on three platforms with no sample count shown. We found no sample counts or intervals on the paid surfaces we read. |
| The headline score | The overall score is held back until enough of its measurements are actually complete; what is not measured renders as NOT MEASURED. | ModelScore, a composite with its four weights printed on the pricing page. The free check promises a 0 to 100 composite in its FAQ but shows only two sub-scores on screen. |
| The free check | A free homepage audit that asks no AI engine anything and shows two pass counts, plus a free measured checkup on Google AI Mode: up to 12 questions, 3 samples each, shown with counts. | A free check on their own keys: the domain plus an optional brand name, two questions (one about your category, one asking the engine about your brand), three checks per IP address for life, and the page tells you your IP address has been logged. |
| What the free check sends to ad platforms | Our audit's analytics events carry a run status or an error code. Never the domain you typed, never a score. | The FAQ says the free check does not store or share your results. On 2026-10-11 the page's own script sent the typed domain and score to Google Analytics and the score to Meta as a conversion value. |
| Checking what AI gets wrong | Answer Accuracy: you write down the facts about your business once, and engine answers are checked against them. | Hallucination Detection checks AI answers against brand facts you verify and rechecks daily until fixed. Their comparison table on that page lists no rival as doing this; we do. |
CiteMetrix is a serious, well-engineered competitor: more platforms, bring-your-own-key pricing, and published composite weights, which are all real reasons to pick them. Pick us if you want the sample count beside every number, a composite that waits until it is earned, and a free check that keeps the domain you type out of anyone's ad platform.
