What AI actually quoted
The exact sentences AI engines lifted from your pages, with the engines that used them and how prominently they ranked.
What it is
A list of the verbatim passages AI engines quoted from your own pages, how many times each was quoted, which engines used it, and the best position it held in an answer.
When to use it
When you want to know which part of a page is doing the work — before rewriting a page, when planning new content, or when a page ranks but never gets quoted.
Step by step
- 1Open Analyze and scroll to “What AI actually quoted”, directly under the Citation Leaderboard.
- 2Read each quote. The link beneath it is the page the engine took it from.
- 3Compare the quoted lines against the rest of that page — the sections never quoted are the ones carrying no citation weight.
- 4Measure Answer Share again after changing a page to see whether the quoted passage changes.
What you will see
Each passage as the engine returned it, the source page, how many samples it appeared in, its best position, and pills for the engines that quoted it. The panel does not appear until at least one passage has been measured.
Measured, never manufactured
Other tools model which part of a page carries value, from scroll depth or revenue attribution. We do not model it — we show the sentence the engine literally quoted, because we stored the answer. A citation whose passage we could not extract is left out rather than shown as a blank quote: it is still a real citation, but it is not a measured quote.
